Bard Hernia Patch

C. R. Bard, Inc. announced in 2006 that it was voluntarily recalling its Bard Composix Kugel  Mesh X-Large Patch intended for ventral hernia repair. The FDA has advised patients who have been implanted with a Bard Composix Kugel Mesh Patch to seek medical attention immediately if they experience unexplained or persistent abdominal pain, fever, tenderness at the implant site or other unusual symptoms. Contact your hernia surgeon and hospital to see if you were implanted with a recalled Bard Composix Kugel Mesh Patch.

Bard initiated this recall due to reports that the Bard Patches plastic coil ring, designed to aid in its deployment, may not withstand the increased stress associated with certain surgical placement techniques.
